Continuing the DIY July series, the Occasions by M&K Interns decided to tackle another trend: the mason jar. Pinterest is full of glass jar crafts and we decided to test another one out. The yarn wrapped painted jar looked simple enough, so we gather our supplies and started crafting.
Here is how the jars looked on Pinterest:
To start, we gather our supplies of mason jars purchased at the Dollar store (such a bargain!), two spools of twine, one thin and one thick, and different paints. After each jar was wrapped in twine, the jars were coated in paint, on in black chalkboard and the other in Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Everlasting.
After wrapping the jars, we painted over the twine to create the desired effect as seen in the Pin. Wait 24 hours to make sure the paint is completely dry before removing the twine.
Sadly, our jars did not turn out like the Pin.
They looked flakey with remains of the twine and simply were not cute enough to display in the office. We rated our jars on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the highest, 1 being the lowest).
Easiness: 5 out of 5 stars
Time: 5 out of 5 stars
Looks the Pin: 0 out of 5 stars
For us, this was a Pinterest Fail!
